Friends of Angie Lawless ("Campaign," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit angielawless.com ("Site") or interact with the Campaign through other channels, how we use that information, and the choices you have.
We collect information you provide directly to us, information collected automatically when you use the Site, and information from third parties.
Information you provide:
Name, email address, mailing address, and phone number when you sign up for updates, RSVP for events, request a yard sign, or fill out forms on the Site.
Contribution information, including credit card information, employer, occupation, and other information required by Tennessee or federal campaign finance law.
Communications you send us, including emails, voicemails, or text messages.
Volunteer information, including availability and skills.
Information collected automatically:
Device information (browser type, operating system, IP address, device identifiers).
Usage information (pages visited, links clicked, time spent on the Site, referring website).
Location information (approximate location based on IP address).
Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5).
Information from third parties:
Information from publicly available sources, including voter files and government records.
Information from partner organizations, when permitted by law and by the partner's privacy policy.
Information from payment processors (like ActBlue) when you make a contribution.
We use the information we collect to:
Process and acknowledge contributions, and comply with campaign finance disclosure requirements.
Send you campaign updates, fundraising appeals, event invitations, and other communications.
Coordinate volunteer activities and respond to your inquiries.
Improve the Site and our outreach.
Comply with legal obligations, including reporting to the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance.
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and technical problems.
Public disclosure of contribution information. Tennessee state law and the rules of the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance require campaigns to publicly disclose information about contributors, including name, address, employer, occupation, contribution amount, and contribution date for contributions above thresholds set by law. By making a contribution, you acknowledge and consent to this public disclosure. This information appears on filings submitted to and published by the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance and may be republished by news media, watchdog groups, and others.
Service providers. We share information with third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing (ActBlue), email delivery, text messaging platforms, website hosting, analytics, and printing. These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide those services.
Allied organizations and committees. We may share, rent, or exchange information with other Democratic candidates, committees, allied organizations, and like-minded entities for the purpose of political engagement, fundraising, and voter outreach. If you do not want your information shared this way, please email info@angielawless.com.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Campaign, our supporters, or others.
Business transfers. In the unlikely event of a merger, dissolution, or successor campaign, your information may be transferred to a successor entity, subject to the same protections as in this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information to commercial advertisers.
By providing your email address or phone number, you consent to receive communications as described in our Terms and Conditions. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or opt out of text messages by replying STOP to any campaign text. Note that we may still need to send you transactional communications, such as confirmations or refund notices for contributions.
We use cookies and similar technologies (web beacons, pixels, local storage) to operate the Site, remember your preferences, analyze how visitors use the Site, and improve our outreach. We may also use third-party analytics tools such as Google Analytics and tracking pixels from social media platforms (such as Meta/Facebook).
You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but doing so may affect how the Site functions. Most browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" setting; we do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
The Site contains links to third-party websites, including ActBlue for contribution processing, social media platforms, and partner organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, and disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with legal obligations (including campaign finance recordkeeping requirements), to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Tennessee law requires campaigns to retain contribution records for a minimum period after the relevant election; we may retain records longer at our discretion.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at info@angielawless.com and we will delete it.
You have the following choices:
Unsubscribe from emails: click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any campaign email.
Opt out of text messages: reply STOP to any campaign text message.
Request a copy or correction: email info@angielawless.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Request deletion: you may request that we delete information about you, subject to our obligation to retain contribution records required by Tennessee campaign finance law.
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or another state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have additional rights, including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of certain sharing.
